Scrutton Bland is a leading professional services group providing accountancy, tax, and insurance advice to both business and private clients.
Challenges
Scrutton Bland were looking to find more clarity around their future IT roadmap and were facing frustration around certain elements of their IT setup. General IT at the firm worked, but the team didn’t have any time to do anything out of their day-to-day operations. Although they had a reliable system, it was slow, clunky, and represented an old-fashioned way of working. The absence of a clear cloud strategy meant Teams and other applications were not well governed. Users were finding work around rather than addressing the IT issues, and the IT setup did not allow for adopting more efficient ways of working.
They wanted to understand what their current position was, and where they could move forward.
Solution
T-Tech proposed a full practice review and roadmap process, which entailed conducting a series of interviews with each department and leadership. Our team went around the business understanding the challenges, and the user experience of their infrastructure and configuration. There was a good level of staff engagement across the practice, to understand the challenges and where improvements could be made.
From the findings, T-Tech went on to produce a documentation comparing the user experience system setup and the desired business outcomes. Recommendations were made for a multi-year roadmap, outlining solutions that would move the business to a modern infrastructure and allow for growth.
Outcomes
T-Tech presented to the board a detailed report explaining the current state of the infrastructure, which showed the shortfalls in the application stack, its lack of integration, and how this prevented efficiencies with workflow tracking, time keeping, document management, onboarding new customers, and how the IT support organisation could be optimised better to support the practice.
This initial discovery process was used to recommend a series of projects, including the adoption of newer technologies, improved processes, and an 18-month draft plan to roll out these projects along with a change management programme. This is now being implemented with some initial quick wins.
As a result, Scrutton Bland have embarked on a series of projects, including a full move to Azure and Office 365, and outsourcing their IT and support to T-Tech. They have a busy line-up of great projects in the coming months, and the practice have already seen huge differences in productivity and efficiencies, with the new changes to their IT state.
_______
“Scrutton Bland has achieved a lot in the last 6 months, compared to the last three years. We chose T-Tech to do a practice review with the intention to deliver on a number of projects, due to their industry expertise and where they sit in the marketplace. Our previous IT team did not have relevant sector experience leading to consideration of solutions that weren’t relevant to our sector. We needed to look to restore faith in our IT leadership.
T-Tech came to us with recommendations and improvements on trusted solutions that have worked for other professional services firms. We are really pleased with the decision to work with T-Tech, and they have already delivered on major projects in a way that suits our practice.”
